NASA Celebrates Halloween with Ghostly Dying Star Images

According to a latest report, in order to celebrate the Halloween season, NASA has released three photographs of the disembodied or ghostly images of the ruins of dying stars.

The images are captured with the help of infrared light and they display planetary nebulae. The images clearly show the deaths of all the three stars.

One among the three stars looks like a dreadful lot resembling the Mutara Nebula from "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan".

Best Photos of Titan’s Numerous Lakes Captured by NASA

The best photos till now of a number of lakes have been taken by NASA with help of their Cassini spacecraft. The most recent images even disclose the type of "salt flats". Titan is the largest moon of the Saturn. It is the only place in addition to Earth that has been found to have stable bodies of liquid on its surface till now. The liquid on its surface is not water. Titan's hydrocarbon lakes consist of liquid ethane and methane.

In the hydrologic cycle of Titan's weather, hydrocarbons are being restored into the atmosphere of the moon.

NASA Presents Magnificent “Canyon of Fire” Event on the Sun

An interesting solar event was recorded by NASA last month, which had an amazing spectacular sight to offer. Dubbed as `Canyon of Fire', this incredible event further proves that it is not necessary to move out of our solar system for such eventful incidents.

In this event, a huge magnetic filament as long as 20,000 erupted on the Sun's surface, which was caused by a coronal mass ejection.

Astronomers Discover New Galaxy - Most Far-Flung From Earth

Published in the online journal Nature, a study conducted by astronomers on international grounds has led it find the galaxy that is most distant than ever.

The Hubble Space Telescope helped the team discover the galaxy. The distance of the galaxy from the Earth could be determined Keck Observatory based on ground in Hawaii.

It has been found that the galaxy has been lying at a distance of almost 30 billion light-years. Boffins are likely to be helped by the same as they could highlight the period by which the Big Bang was followed straight away.

ISON Still Intact, Says NASA

ISON Still Intact, Says NASA

After seeing the photo captured by the Hubble Space Telescope, NASA predicts that the comet ISON is still unbroken.

Earlier, the scientists were of the view that the delicate icy nucleus might have disintegrated because of the sun's heat. But, the space agency declared the ISON is close to complete its journey near the sun by 28, November.

Boffins use Timing Data to Examine Gravitational Waves

Boffins at Australia's Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization have revealed that they have endeavored to examine black holes by using information about Einsteinian prediction.

Post-doctoral CSIRO fellow Dr. Ryan Shannon and PhD student Vikram Ravi have figured out the likely rate of background gravitational waves in the universe. They have made it possible through analyzing data from the Parkes radio-telescope's PPTA project and a previous CSIRO-Swinburne University collaboration.

Reason Behind Rise in Size of Black Holes Unveiled

For past many years, astronomers have been working hard in order to know about the reason behind increase in the size of supermassive black holes.

These massive black holes are found in the centre of big galaxies. Astronomers have been seeing them to enormous sizes. It is however, now that study researchers have got to know the reason behind the size increase.

Study researchers were of the view they have been able to reach at the above given result with the help of CSIRO's Parkes radio telescope.

Sky Survey Analysis Reveals Two Recent Cosmic Explosions

Software analysis of Sky surveys conducted by telescopes in California has helped the astronomers to relate the cosmic explosions with a star.

The astronomical survey software system has been named as the Intermediate Palomar Transient Factory.

The research conducted at the California Institute of Technology has pin-pointed the afterglow caused by the first explosion. The afterglow has been named as gamma-ray-burst by the researchers.

Space Rock Pulled from Lake Chebarkul

A piece of space rock has plunged into Lake Chebarkul, Central Russia. The incident took place on 15th February.

Divers who have helped in taking out the meteorite have affirmed that the space rock is a half-tonne in weight and has left a 6 metres hole in the ice. Video has also been made of the time when the team pulled out the space rock and wrapped it in a special material.
