ISON Still Intact, Says NASA

After seeing the photo captured by the Hubble Space Telescope, NASA predicts that the comet ISON is still unbroken.

Earlier, the scientists were of the view that the delicate icy nucleus might have disintegrated because of the sun's heat. But, the space agency declared the ISON is close to complete its journey near the sun by 28, November.

Boffins use Timing Data to Examine Gravitational Waves

Boffins at Australia's Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization have revealed that they have endeavored to examine black holes by using information about Einsteinian prediction.

Post-doctoral CSIRO fellow Dr. Ryan Shannon and PhD student Vikram Ravi have figured out the likely rate of background gravitational waves in the universe. They have made it possible through analyzing data from the Parkes radio-telescope's PPTA project and a previous CSIRO-Swinburne University collaboration.

Reason Behind Rise in Size of Black Holes Unveiled

For past many years, astronomers have been working hard in order to know about the reason behind increase in the size of supermassive black holes.

These massive black holes are found in the centre of big galaxies. Astronomers have been seeing them to enormous sizes. It is however, now that study researchers have got to know the reason behind the size increase.

Study researchers were of the view they have been able to reach at the above given result with the help of CSIRO's Parkes radio telescope.

Sky Survey Analysis Reveals Two Recent Cosmic Explosions

Sky Survey Analysis Reveals Two Recent Cosmic Explosions

Software analysis of Sky surveys conducted by telescopes in California has helped the astronomers to relate the cosmic explosions with a star.

The astronomical survey software system has been named as the Intermediate Palomar Transient Factory.

The research conducted at the California Institute of Technology has pin-pointed the afterglow caused by the first explosion. The afterglow has been named as gamma-ray-burst by the researchers.

Space Rock Pulled from Lake Chebarkul

Space Rock Pulled from Lake Chebarkul

A piece of space rock has plunged into Lake Chebarkul, Central Russia. The incident took place on 15th February.

Divers who have helped in taking out the meteorite have affirmed that the space rock is a half-tonne in weight and has left a 6 metres hole in the ice. Video has also been made of the time when the team pulled out the space rock and wrapped it in a special material.

Highest Flight Completed by Grasshooper

Highest Flight Completed by Grasshooper

As per a new report, a highest flight has been completed by the Grasshooper rocket of Elon Musk. The previous week, this rocket completed its flight in order to become a viable (vertical takeoff, vertical landing) rocket.

The SpaceX had published a video on the social site displaying the 744 meter tall jump in upward direction. A test routine was called about two months back in which Grasshopper executed a creative plan. According to the plan, the rocket rose at a height of about 100 meters from its launch pad and returned back.

Iran Calls Off Its Plan of Sending Cat to Space

Plans to send a cat to space by March next year have, apparently, been callously thrashed by the advocates from PETA. It is, therefore, that the country of Iran has now decided to send a second monkey to outer space by the end of November 2013.

"The second live animal will be ready within a month to be sent into space", said Iran's space organization's deputy head, Hamid Fazeli.

It has been found that Fazeli has already fulfilled all possible requirements for the monkey launch.

Young Planet Floating Without Sun Found

Young Planet Floating Without Sun Found

It is not the first time when it has unveiled that the giant bodies are present in space. Yet again, it has been revealed that a world, which is six times bigger than Jupiter has been found floating without a sun.

However, there is only one change in the situation. Earlier, it was not known that whether they were planets or stars. But this time, it has become sure that it is a planet.

Novel Impact Crater Discovered by Researchers

As per a new research by the scientists at the Northern Arizona University, a new type of impact crater has been found on Mars. The existence of this impact crater on the mars can be clearly explained by the information obtained from the underground nuclear tests and explosive volcanoes.

Nadine Barlow, a professor of Physics and astronomy at Northern Arizona University, explains the size of the crater by comparing it with that of the ejecta. He said that the crater is covered with a thin outer covering, which extends many times beyond the expected range of ejecta.

1st Evidence of Comet Striking Earth Found

1st Evidence of Comet Striking Earth Found

A group of researchers from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg have come up with new and interesting revelations with regard to a giant comet that has entered Earth some 28 million years ago.

"Comets always visit our skies -- they're these dirty snowballs of ice mixed with dust -- but never before in history has material from a comet ever been found on Earth", affirmed researcher David Block.
