Climate Change Models underestimated Plants’ CO2 absorption level, says study

According to new research, the global climate models have largely underestimated the amount of CO2 that is being absorbed by plants.

In this new study, the scientists have revealed that between 1901 and 2010, living things absorbed 16% more of the gas than what has been previously thought of.

All the details related to this research have been published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

An array of diets can be found on internet that claims to make people more powerful and healthier. One of such diets is caveman diet. This type of diet used to prevail in the Paleolithic period and generally comprised of nuts, berries and read meat.

But a novel research carried out by a group of researchers from Oxford University has revealed that reads meat was not part of the diet at that time. Some 2.4 million years ago, people survived on tiger nuts.

Researchers Discover Fossilized Record of Reproduction

100-million-year-old-piece-amber

Researchers have staggered across a 100-million-year old piece of amber. This may be the oldest proof of sexual reproduction in a flowering plant.

The fossilized evidence of reproduction was found by researchers from Oregon State University. A bunch of 18 tiny flowers is readily visible and are enclosed within amber surroundings. The 18 small flowers include the one that was in the process of manufacturing completely new seeds.

Genetic Defect Found in Rare Blue Petunias

A research has been carried out by a group of researchers from the VU-University in Amsterdam. The study has been carried out on the rare blue petunia.

After carrying out the study, it has been revealed that it is due to the failure of a cellular pump that turns the petals colors to blue or violet. The failure of the cellular pump does not let all cell compartments present in the flower to properly acidify.

Is it true that Vegetation acts as ‘Carbon Sink’?

Is it true that Vegetation acts as ‘Carbon Sink’?

As per scientists, vegetation on Earth could become drenched with carbon by the end of this century and would not work as a brake on global warming.

A four degree increase in temperature, expected by 2010, marks the threshold point after which terrestrial trees and plants will be not be capable of soaking more carbon from the atmosphere.

The researchers warn that atmospheric carbon will start to increase more quickly that will speed up the change in climate.

NASA Looking Forward to Plant Basil, Flowers and Turnips on the Moon by Late 2015

According to a latest report, NASA has recently revealed that it is planning a Lunar Plant Growth Habitat project, which targets to plant basil, flowers as well as turnips on the moon. According to sources, scientists at NASA are planning to commence this newly thought project by the end of the year 2015.

Neil Armstrong was the first man to land on the surface on the moon for the benefit of the entire mankind. And now, the U. S. space agency is looking forward go a step ahead of the previous one as it is stepping towards its latest Lunar Plant Growth Habitat project.

Climate change likelier to affect dominant coral population

Scientists have said that the predominant easily available corals that are found in large amounts are highly influenced by worldwide changes in atmosphere and sea science basically influence.

They confirmed that throughout periods invaluable to coral development, characteristic choice supports corals with qualities that make them more defenseless to environmental change.

Change in Forest Patterns Mapped by Google Earth

According to a latest report, the forests are being studied with the help of a new high-resolution global map. This map can trace the findings related to the forest loss and gains and has been created with the help of Google Earth.

Sources have revealed that this interactive online tool is publically available. Also it can zoom its lenses to an extraordinarily high level of local detail or to a resolution of about 30m.
