Twins born 1 year apart in Utah and Arizona
Two families in the two different U.S. states are celebrating the birth of their identical twins who took birth in different years – in 2016 and 2017.
Utah couple Huyen Nguyen and Nick Criddle welcomed their identical twin boys, named James and Matthew, into the world at 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 31 and at 12:01 a.m. on Jan. 1, respectively.
James and Matthew weighed 5 pounds and 5 pounds, 5 ounces, respectively. Describing his twin boys’ differences, father Nick Criddle said, “This is James, he is older and wiser. This is Matthew younger, a little stronger.”
James was the last baby born in 2016 in Utah, while Matthew became the first baby born in the state in 2017.
The other rare twin birth was reported in Arizona, where Sawyer was born at 11:51 p.m. in 2016 and his brother Everett entered this world at 12:01 a.m. in 2017.
Sawyer and Everett’s birth came as a surprise for their parents, father Brandon Shay and mother Holly Shay who didn’t plan for their twin boys to be born in different years.
